Kitimat celebrates the new Haisla Bridge

The District of Kitimat is excited to celebrate the substantial completion of the new Haisla Bridge, marking a major milestone in this two-year construction project.

June 17 will be filled with special events and free transit

June 17 is going to be a thrill ride from sunrise to sundown, and there will be something for everyone.The 13th annual Kitimat Memorial Hillclimb starts the day off. Later in the morning we have a ceremony at the Haisla Bridge to celebrate its completion ahead of opening it up to traffic in the near future, and we’ll wrap up the day with an outdoor concert at Lower City Centre. Water main flushing in Kitimat continues

UPDATE | Work continues on the District of Kitimat water main flushing. As of June 28 crews are in the areas of Duncan, Deville, and Tweedsmuir Streets.

Work is now anticipated to be complete by July 31.

Although your water may experience brief discolouration during this work it will continue to be safe.

If your water becomes discoloured:

- Run your taps until the water clears
- Avoid using hot water while the water is discoloured.
