Water Disruption in Community (Update 1)

February 2, 2022 – The Service Centre area of the District of Kitimat is currently without water as crews repair a water main break.

There is alternating, single lane traffic at Haisla Bridge as these repairs take place. Please avoid driving through the area if not necessary to reduce traffic congestion.

Building owners in the Service Centre are encouraged to ensure their taps are shut off before they leave.

Updates will be provided as they become available.

Water Disruption in Community

February 2, 2022 – The District of Kitimat is investigating a water main break which may significantly impact water pressure throughout the community.

Crews are currently assessing the situation. Updates will be provided as they are available. Please expect water service disruptions until repairs are made.

WATER DISRUPTION IN VISTA VILLAGE TRAILER COURT

 January 25, 2022 – Due to an emergency water repair, water will be temporarily shut off to residents of Vista Village Trailer Court at approximately 1:30 p.m. today. Water will be turned back on as quickly as possible once repairs have been completed, no later than 5:30 p.m.

 Some users may experience discoloured water when water is turned back on. If you are experiencing this, please turn on your taps and run until the water is clear....

Traffic Impacts on Lahakas Boulevard

TRAFFIC IMPACTS ON LAHAKAS BLVD.

January 24, 2022 – On January 25, 2022 from 8:30-4:30 p.m, Lahakas Blvd. between Haisla Blvd. and Albatross Ave. will be temporarily closed to repair street lights.

No vehicles will be permitted up or down Lahakas Blvd. in this area, except busses, which will not be affected. Local traffic to Haisla Centre will have access from the north end of the road closure.

 RECREATION FACILITY USE UPDATE

January 20, 2022 – As of January 20, 2022, fitness facilities in the Northern Health region have been permitted to reopen.

Starting January 21, 2022­, the following activities are now available at Riverlodge Recreation Centre and Tamitik Jubilee Sports Complex:

  •  Weight/cardio and fitness room use (pre-booking is required, mask use recommended)
  • Fitness and dance classes (registration is required, no drop-ins)
